NEC is engaged in a historic battle which impacts everyone in the region, and, the legacy of future generations. We are challenging Entergy Corp. at every step in their bid to operate Entergy Vermont Yankee atomic reactor for 20 years beyond it's scheduled shutdown in 2012. NEC are using legal and regulatory venues to accomplished these goals. We are active in two cases before the VT Public Service Board quasi-judicial proceedings. The first: Should VT allow Entergy to push the 40-year designed reactor an additional 20 years? The second case surrounds buried pipes leaking tritium, and, company statements, under oath, to NEC's council that there were no buried pipes carrying nuclear materials. Founded in 1971 NEC is a membership-supported 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization. We receive no government funding. In previous years our solar energy van helped power SolarFest.
